Solid Waste / Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Projects

Landfill & CCR Compliance: Subconsultant to prime consultant Reitz & Jens, Inc.  Services completed to date include preliminary site investigation and detailed site investigation at the Ameren Missouri Labadie Energy Center in Franklin County, Missouri.  Current and pending work includes landfill design, construction permit application, public involvement, engineering management, groundwater monitoring and statistical analysis, and site access road design.  Provide technical assistance for compliance with Franklin County zoning and environmental permitting.  Project is ongoing.

CCR Landfill and Recycle Pond: Services provided to date include completion of the detailed site investigation, landfill and recycle pond design, construction permit, St. Charles County landfill license application and operating permit for the Ameren Sioux Energy Center in St. Charles County, Missouri.  Prepared modification to construction permit to allow for dry cell disposal of waste in 86-acre portion of the original 183.5-acre landfill and provide ongoing quarterly groundwater monitoring services. 

Coal Ash Impoundments:  Responsible for development and implementation of groundwater monitoring system for NPDES compliance.  Duties included preparation and submittal of a Site Characterization Work Plan detailing investigative methods and procedures, field work activities including piezometer drilling and installation, well development, aquifer testing, and monthly water level monitoring, and preparation of a Site Characterization Report describing the findings of the field investigation.  Make recommendations for installation of a long-term groundwater monitoring system.   Prepare sampling and analysis protocols for regulatory approval and conduct routine water quality sampling and reporting.  Work began in 2016 and is ongoing at multiple facilities.
