The State of Missouri has retained GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. (Gredell Engineering) to design soil erosion and slope stabilization for the south, north and west banks of Wears Creek, adjacent to Parking Lot 10 in Mill Bottom. Gredell Engineering will conduct an analysis of the geotechnical, hydrological and environmental conditions of Parking Lots 10 and 14 to determine environmentally responsible, economical and practical approaches to stabilizing the banks and streambed of Wears Creek in order to protect existing features.
Based upon the contract agreement, Gredell Engineering will review previous projects and engineering data, conduct hydrologic analyses and subsurface investigations, and provide a design solution that will address soil erosion and provide long-term slope protection for parking lots. In order to complete these tasks, Gredell Engineering will coordinate with the City of Jefferson, FEMA, Missouri Department of Conservation, and Corps of Engineers and take into consideration habitat, recent shifts in surrounding land uses, the impact of any improvement to adjacent properties to avoid negative effects on the area floodway, and the continued use of the parking lots.
Gredell Engineering key staff on this project include Thomas R. Gredell, P.E., Bruce Dawson, P.E., John N. Browning, P.E., and Connie M. Walden, E.I. John N. Browning brings 32 years of environmentally responsible streambank stabilization experience. Gredell Engineering looks forward to working on this local project to benefit Wears Creek and the Mill Bottom area.
