Thomas R. Gredell, P.E., President of GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc., recently attended two conferences focused on environmental challenges facing coal-fired power plants in Missouri.
In late February, Tom attended the 3-day Energy, Utility & Environment Conference (EUEC) in San Diego, CA. EUEC is the largest professional networking and educational event held in annually in the USA, with 1,500 attendees, 400 speakers and 200 exhibits. Tom primarily attended presentations focused on Coal Combustion Residuals management and associated water quality impacts.
Due to the environmental challenges facing coal-fired power plants, several Midwestern coal plants will be closed, or decommissioned, in the next several years. In early March, Tom also attended the 2-day Decommissioning Power Plants – Regulations, Projects & People, in Chicago, IL. Technical sessions included: state/federal regulations; asbestos abatement; landfill and ash pond management; and environmental remediation. Over 200 professionals from across the nation attended.
Mr. Gredell has been the owner/President of GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc. for almost 20 years. His individual technical skills focused in municipal and industrial solid waste and wastewater management systems and associated environmental impacts, primarily to surface water and groundwater.
