Roberts, Doll & Rackers Present at MWCC Environmental Conference

Rickie Roberts, PE, Travis Doll, RG, REHS, and Andrew Rackers, PE of GREDELL Engineering Resources, Inc., recently attended and presented at the Missouri Waste Control Coalition (MWCC) Environmental Conference held at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Rickie presented a technical talk titled Closed Sanitary Landfills – What Happens in 10-20-30 Years & Beyond!  Rickie’s talk reviewed the components of closed municipal solid waste sanitary landfills and how they remain connected to the land, air and water.  The talk included a discussion of projected potential impacts of closed sanitary landfills during the post closure period and beyond using two case studies.

Travis presented the Selection of Geophysical Survey Investigation Method for Identifying Sand Blows in the New Madrid Seismic Zone for Siting a Landfill.  Travis’ talk focused on the process for selecting ground penetrating radar (GPR) as the preferred geophysical survey method to identify and locate past seismic features (i.e. liquefaction-induced features) such as sand blows and sand fissures within a 120-acre site in the New Madrid Seismic Zone.

Andrew presented Maintaining CCR Rule Compliance – Lessons Learned (So Far).  Andrew’s talk highlighted the more interesting lessons learned during the process of assisting a coal-fired power plant in achieving regulatory compliance with the CCR regulation.

MWCC was formed in 1981 to bring together citizens, government, business and industry to discuss the rapidly changing field of waste management.  The two-day conference provides an annual forum for discussing the latest developments in waste management, site remediation and environmental controls.  Over 450 people attended.
